2. Data Processing When Using EthioBid

  • When visiting the website: To ensure the security and stability of our systems, we collect server logs. These include your IP address (anonymized), the browser used, operating system, and the timestamp of access. This data is automatically deleted after 7 days. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6 Para. 1 f GDPR).
  • During registration and use: To enable you to participate in auctions, we process the data you provide, such as name, email address, and, if applicable, telephone number. This processing is necessary for the fulfillment of the user contract (Art. 6 Para. 1 b GDPR).
  • For paid services: When you purchase paid services (e.g., 'Bids'), the data required for payment processing (payment data) is passed on to our payment service provider.
  • Cookies: We exclusively use technically necessary cookies, e.g., to save your login status (session cookies). We do not use tracking or analysis cookies without your explicit consent.

3. Data Transfer

Your data will only be passed on to third parties if this is necessary for contract fulfillment (e.g., to payment service providers) or if we are legally obliged to do so. We have concluded data processing agreements (DPA) in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR with all service providers who process data on our behalf (e.g., hosters).

4. Your Rights as a Data Subject

You have the right to information about the data we have stored about you at any time. Furthermore, you have the right to correction, restriction of processing, deletion of your data, and the right to data portability. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interest.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (for NRW: the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia).
